Taking an RYA shorebased course can give you all the confidence you need to sail safely anywhere in the world. There are four levels of navigation course to choose from:
- Basic Navigation and Safety- an excellent course for those entering into the world of boating for the first time with an emphasis on giving you the skills to be safe on board your boat. Click here for more information >>>

Day Skipper
- a course suitable for anyone beginning to skipper their own or others boats in daylight hours within sight of land. Click here for more information >>>

Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster
- for those with strong basic navigation skills wanting to skipper boats on longer passages during daylight and night hours. Click here for more information >>>

Yachtmaster Ocean
- navigating by the stars may sound romantic but on the deck of a boat in the middle of a big ocean is not easy! For those with advanced navigation skills and essential for those keen on gaining the RYA Ocean Yachtmaster certificate. Click here for more information >>>

– there is an additional £30 fee paid
direct to the RYA
for your certificate. This payment is made at the end of the course. Please note that you should bring a passport photo to the course.
Day skipper and Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory
– you should bring a
plotter and a pair of dividers with you for the duration of the course.
We can advise on where and what to purchase.
Courses are generally held at our classroom on New North Quay (next
to the Maritime Museum) unless you are advised otherwise.
